Tony Andreu

Position: Attacking Midfielder

Age: 29 *

At Club Since: Summer 2017

Total Club League Appearances (Goals): 5(0) *

A goalscoring midfielder, Tony Andreu arrives at Coventry City as potentially a vital addition to the squad, given the lack of goalscorers and creative players in the squad. Andreu was a key player at Hamilton as they rose into the Scottish Premiership, before following his manager Alex Neil to Norwich. While Andreu struggled to get on the pitch at Carrow Road, he took in a loan spell at Dundee United last season where he was one of the star players in the Scottish Championship, scoring 13 goals in 31 appearances.

While form in Scotland doesn’t necessarily translate to England, Andreu’s footballing CV would suggest that he’s too good for League Two. Time will bear out how true that is, but Andreu certainly adds another option to the attacking mix and is someone who can primarily play just behind the striker, but can also drop deeper or be used out wide. It presents Mark Robins with depth and alternatives in attack, and now there’s no guarantee that the likes of Peter Vincenti, Jodi Jones and Marc McNulty will all start in the same team alongside Andreu. On the face of it, this is a really impressive signing.
